Heritage

Southeastern Wisconsin boasts a rich heritage of natural plant communities and animal habitats, ranging from dry prairies to beech/maple forests, from wetland marshes to hardwood
swamps, and from cold water streams to warm water lakes.

These local ecosystems are not only part of our home, but are also invaluable habitats for countless other species. As a part of a responsible community, it is our duty to preserve and manage this rich heritage for future generations.

Commitment

Southeast Wisconsin Land Conservancy is a science-based, non-profit, tax-exempt organization. We are committed to preserving and managing these local ecological gems.

Our mission is to conserve the region’s natural areas, enhance the diversity and viability of native plants and animals, and promote ecological sustainability.

Future

We believe that our efforts must go beyond preserving existing natural areas. That’s why we also engage in re-wilding (restoring) previously altered lands, acre by acre, to create more natural conditions to support the common, as well as at-risk species.
